Recently I was at Hastings so I picked up Gundam Wing, Ghost in the Shell Stand Alone Complex and 2nd Gig. They were close to $40 somewhere between there and $30. I had the money and figured why not my girlfriend and her kids have not seen them so we have been watching it all at her place. I have her hooked on Highlander the TV series right now and we both like anime so that’s a plus. I am working on increasing my anime collection I only have the first set of Gundam Wing so I need the next and the movie I also have several series that I started but have yet to finish buying. In the next few months I plan to have several series.

When a trader comes to a small village during a local harvest festival he soon finds a strange stow away on his cart. According to local legend a young boy made a deal with a wolf to insure a good wheat harvest. Now they no longer need the wolf and have almost forgotten about it. The wolf has now made a new deal with the young trader to take her back to her home. I haven’t seen all of the 2 shows but I love it it’s funny, has it’s romantic moments and a bit of action.

Morbito Gaurdian of the Spirit

When a wondering spear wielder saves the young prince of a foreign land she soon gets into trouble. Legend tells of a spirit that will bring death to the land through drought. Is the prince cursed to bring about destruction or is there more to this story. This anime follows Balsa the spear wielder as she tries to protect this young prince and repay the bad Karma surrounding her own past. This maybe one of my favorite martial arts styled anime shows but in the end I was sad to see it go. I would have liked it to have had more fights but the few it did have were fairly good compared to many I have seen. It would be great if they would follow up on Balsa she’s a bad ass character. All of this takes place in an alternate world not Earth and the line between this world and the spirit realm is a very thin one.

PlanetES

PlanetES is an anime set in the future not much seems to have changed it’s about life in space it’s made to look about as true to real as it can for an anime. This show centers around a group of trash collectors who work for a company. Their job is to collect junk floating around Earth to keep it from damaging ships or killing people traveling in space to the few stations orbiting the planet. It was a fairly good show but it just felt like it left me hanging wanting more. Through some twists in the story several things happen to the characters that more or less leads them on the path to figuring out just what it is they want out of life. The main character has dreams of one day owning his own ship but is faced with the reality that he just doesn’t make enough collecting space junk. All in all it’s worth watching but you will probably be left wanting more. This anime is all about love, life in space and finding yourself.

Gunslinger Girl

September 28th, 2009 by heath

A few years back I seen an Anime called Gunslinger Girl the show centers around an Italian organization who uses little girls with cybernetic bodies to assassinate terrorists and stuff along that line. Each girl has a past their families are gone and they were dying of something usually is the case. They are brought in and fixed up stronger and faster then a normal human. Trained to fight and then handed over to a handler usually some sort of ex military officer or special agent who tells them what to do and oversees their training. Together they are called fratello siblings brother and sister. The first series ended leaving me wanting to see more and lucky for me a new series of 13 episodes I believe has been released. I have watched several and just love this show. Nothing beats some little girl sitting there smiling and then watching the shock on peoples faces as they drop a violin case to the ground and open fire with a P90.

I highly recommend this series to any who want a good action anime with a lot of guns and stuff. It can be slow at times and focuses on the girls and their confusing life style. They are children living in a world where they aren’t really loved just treated as tools.
