Over the weekend Brandon my training partner and I went to Wichita to grade to our next levels in Wing Chun. I have been training for around 9 years or so and would be an instructor by now if I had been able to continue in our class. Due to going to tech school for several years I had to train outside of class. Our school has closed down but many of us are still around and a few of us still train. I ran into Brandon awhile back and he told me about his class that he had been running out of his house so I started going there to train. We have several students all of which are new to martial arts or at least new to Wing Chun. A few of Brandon’s students went to the Wichita school to grade in front of our Sifu we all graded and passed to the next level. Bad thing is that Brandon and I were not able to make up the tests we were not able to grade for in the past so we both only went up one level. We were not asked to demonstrate most of what we know it’s a bit disappointing but we will get there.
I was asked to perform up to the 4th set of techniques for the wooden dummy but went to the 6th which is were Brandon was supposed to stop. We know the whole form it just kind of sucks that we weren’t able to show everything we know. Brandon and I basically had to spar each other and it was a bit funny because everyone started clapping. We did good but I am just a bit upset that we were not asked to show more of what we know and were held back. We had a class tonight and watched the video we made we talked about it and are planning to train harder. We plan to do more then we have ever done before in our classes most of our old classmates have forgotten their training and we feel it’s up to us to continue with our school.
